It’s a lot quieter now that vacation season is mostly over with the kids all back to school. The next few weekends will still be pretty busy as summer winds down to an end. There was a Bass tournament this weekend and there will be two more classics in the following weekends. However this time of year if you can sneak out during the week you might be one of the only boats on the lake.
With the shorter days and cooler nights we usually start seeing bigger fish come out of hiding from the deeps. We’re heading into some of the best fishing of the year for larger game fish like Pike, Walleye and Bass.
The real action for the next few weeks is at the rivers. The Salmon are moving upstream and many are getting in on the action. They’re getting fish all over the Manistee River up to Tippy Dam. The Betsie River is also full of fish. Which ever your favorite method for catching Salmon, be it using Flies, Spawn, Beads, Crankbaits or Spoons there is a fish out there that will hit it. The hardest part is landing them, 20-25 pound fish are very common with quite a few even larger than that.
Our 8th Annual 2019 Free Summer Fishing Contest ends at the end of Tuesday, September 10. There’s still time to catch and bring in that winning fish.
