Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell have been covered with ice for almost 2 weeks but still aren’t safe to go out on. Since the rain and wind earlier in the week both lakes have opened up some. Cadillac is two thirds open and Mitchell has several isolated areas with open water as well. We’ll be out there soon enough, best to be patient.

For those not into deer hunting, you can try your luck with Steelhead fishing on the Manistee River. Floating jigs with Waxworms or Beads have been the most popular method. They’ve also been getting a lot of Brown Trout up by Tippy Dam as well. Especially those using Minnows.
