The weather this past weekend wasn’t filled with as much doom and gloom as it was hyped up to be. A little bit of rain and a few inches of snow was the worst of it here. It didn’t hurt the ice any, and we’re in much better shape afterwards. Lake Mitchell has from 6-9″ of ice all over. Snowmobile tracks can be seen traveling all corners of the lake. Lake Cadillac is starting to heal up along the shorelines. Out from Kenwood Park the first steps are the worst but quickly you’ll find 6-7″ of ice out away from shore. It looks like colder weather is coming for the weekend so maybe we’ll be able to add some thickness.
It was a pretty tough bite for fishing this past weekend. With the up and down temperatures, changing presure, rain, freezing rain, snow and wind there were plenty of reasons for the fish to not cooperate. Most anglers hunkered down in there shacks to avoid the wind and weather, but the lack of mobility can keep you from trying new spots and moving onto fish.
